Many quality issues start with the surface. Yet few people have full control over it. In 2026, RISE, in collaboration with Toponova, is launching a unique training series on surface texture, designed for those who want to avoid defects, reduce costs, learn more about measurement uncertainty, and ensure functionality. We’ll walk you through the entire process, from design to finished product:
- An understanding of what surface texture is, as defined by both the new and old profiles, as well as the surface area standard according to ISO GPS.
- How to ensure reliable measurements and how to handle measurement uncertainty.
- The relationship between surface texture and function for sustainable manufacturing and the right quality.
The program is divided into three interrelated parts, but they can be taken as standalone courses depending on prior knowledge. The courses are held at RISE’s research and measurement facilities in Borås and Mölndal, where both theory and practical training are conducted. The courses are ideal for those working in design, quality assurance, or measurement technology—or for anyone who simply wants to reduce errors and costs early in the process.
